How to set up notifications

What types of posts require manual publishing?

In general, you can schedule and autopublish content to all social networks from Metricool. However, there are exceptions for Instagram and TikTok where some posts must be published manually via a notification.

For TikTok, this applies when the video doesn't meet the requirements for automatic publishing—for example, if you're adding music from TikTok’s library or using in-app effects and features.

In Instagram's case, manual publishing is required for Stories posted by Creator accounts, those with interactive elements like links or mentions, or videos that include trending music. Any content that doesn't meet the platform’s autopublishing conditions must be posted manually.

Set up notifications

You can receive your publication notification by e-mail or by our mobile app (recommended option).

  • Push notification via mobile

To set up your push notifications on your mobile device, follow these steps:

  1. Download our app on your iOS / Android phone.

  2. Login to Metricool to link your device with your account.

  3. Access the planner > notifications

  4. Select "On my mobile device" from the drop-down menu.

  5. Enable the device

  6. Click on Save

💡 We recommend using the Save and send a test option to make sure you receive the notifications correctly

From now on, if you have the autopublish option turned off, when it's time to publish, you will receive a notification. Click on the notification and the media will be downloaded to your gallery and the text will be automatically copied to the clipboard and redirect you to the Instagram app. Follow the usual process of posting from Instagram.

  • E-mail notification

If you prefer to receive notifications in your email, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the scheduler > notifications

  2. Select "In my e-mail" in the drop-down menu.

  3. Enter your e-mail account

  4. Click on Add

  5. Click on Save

⚠️ Some browsers do not allow the download of multimedia content, so the process may be less fluid. We recommend that you opt for mobile notification

What to check if you don't receive the notification

When you don't receive the email or the notification to post on Instagram, you have to confirm first that it is correctly configured in "Notifications".

If it is correct, ensure you have the latest app version. In that same window you have the option to test the notification and confirm if you receive it correctly. If you have configured that we send the notification to our app on your mobile phone, make sure that you are correctly logged in to our app and check that your device is connected to the tool and activated.

When updating the app it is possible that the device appears duplicated in the list, we recommend you to delete the device linked to the previous version.

If you still don't receive the test notification, you should check if within the configuration of your mobile phone you have allowed notifications for our app.

If it does not appear correctly connected or you still do not receive the notification, please contact our support service through the chat available within the tool.
