Google Ads Recommendations

This article explains how recommendations work in Google Ads and how to review them from the platform.

What they consist of

The platform provides the recommendations that Google Ads considers most useful for improving campaign performance. This lets you review and act on Google Ads recommendations without leaving the platform.

How to use this option

You can find it in the top menu under Ads, then Recommendations. Click the Analyze Campaigns button and the tool will start analyzing and displaying the data.

Types of recommendations

Up to eight types of recommendations are listed:

  • Campaigns limited by budget: these campaigns have reached their budget limit, and increasing the budget may improve performance.

  • Add keywords: including new keywords can help your campaign reach more of your target audience.

  • Modify keyword match: this refers to adding phrase match or broad match versions of your keywords. This can help your ad appear in more relevant searches.

  • Bidding with target CPA: this gives you the option to bid more efficiently with the CPA targeting strategy. You can get more conversions for a similar or lower CPA with a fully automated bidding strategy.

  • Bid to maximize conversions: this option can help you get more conversions for a similar cost with a fully automated bidding strategy.

  • Bid with enhanced CPC: this automatically optimizes your bids in the auction to show ads in searches most likely to generate conversions.

  • Bidding with Click Maximization: this can help you get more clicks for a similar cost with a fully automated bidding strategy.

In addition, clicking the Show button provides the following additional data:

  • Profit: the estimated benefit of applying the recommendation.

  • Type of recommendation: the recommendation type best suited to the campaign.

  • Metrics: details of the metrics that will change if the recommendation is applied.

If you want to accept the recommendations and apply the changes, click Apply and confirm the necessary changes.
