Historical data available

This article explains what historical data the platforms make available in Metricool and which metrics only start from the date you connect an account.

How much historical data is available?

When you connect a social media account to Metricool for the first time, data from the previous 30 days is usually displayed.

Some metrics are only available from the moment you connect your account. It is not possible to retrieve earlier historical data for:

  • Number of followers on X (Twitter), TikTok, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, and personal LinkedIn accounts.

  • YouTube subscribers.

  • Instagram Stories.

These metrics start being recorded from the day you connect your account and are only tracked while the account remains linked to Metricool.

Changes to your Instagram connection

If you change how your Instagram account is connected, for example, from logging in with Instagram credentials to connecting it through Facebook, or the other way around, you’ll lose access to your previous data history.
This happens because Meta provides two separate ways to connect to the Instagram API, and each one accesses different data that isn’t shared between them.

New metrics have more limited historical availability. They usually start being recorded from the moment they are added or from when you connect your account, whichever happens later.

Platform limitations

In addition to the general 30-day availability and the exceptions above, some platforms apply their own limits.

Bluesky

Bluesky only provides access to historical data for up to 30 days before you connect your account. Follower tracking starts from the moment you connect the account and continues while it remains connected.

Threads

Threads allows access to approximately 3 months of historical data, depending on what the Threads API provides for each account. Followers are monitored from the first connection, and while the account remains connected.

Pinterest

Pinterest only allows access to 90 days of historical data.

TikTok

  • Video views: data may be available from the connection date back to January 1 of the previous year at most.

  • Videos viewed in the period: data is available for a maximum of 60 days from the connection, based on what the TikTok API provides.

Follower tracking starts from the first connection and continues while the account remains connected.

YouTube

YouTube only provides access to data from the last 30 days. In addition, collecting all metrics can take approximately 7 days from when you connect the account. Subscriber tracking starts from the first connection and while the account remains connected.

X (Twitter)

For posts, the following limits apply:

  • New connection: the last 5 days or up to 100 posts, whichever limit is reached first.

  • Maximum available history: up to 1,000 posts within a maximum of 30 days.

Competitors

When you add a competitor, data from the first day of the previous month is available, except for the number of followers and likes, which can only be known from the day of connection. From that moment on, data is collected.

For Premium plans, the maximum available history is 300 posts from the time of connection.

If the same competitor was previously added by another user, more historical data may be available.

For X (Twitter) competitors, data from the last 100 posts or the last 30 days is loaded, depending on which limit is reached first. Earlier history is not available. From the connection onward, competitor posts from the previous day are synchronized.

Demographics data

Some demographic data about your followers, such as age, gender, or geographic area, is also available. For details, see Demographics.
